Child Labor Free- Manufacturing - Logo

The Smateria brand was awarded the Child Labor Free mark. Smateria has committed to ensuring there is no child labor in the manufacturing of their products which has been verified through Child Labor Free robust auditing process.

Child Labor is work undertaken by a Child, which: The Child is legally prohibited from undertaking; or Is likely to be harmful to the Child’s health or physical, mental, spiritual, moral, or social development; or Interferes with a Child’s education.

The Angkor Bullet Jewellery, Artisans Angkor and Samatoa brands are members of the Artisans Association of Cambodia (AAC) which is a member of the World Fair Trade Organization – Asia (WFTO-Asia).

Angkor Bullet Jewellery specializes in handmade recycled bullet brass jewellery and support home based artisan group.

Artisans Angkor is a Cambodian social company created in the 1990’s to revitalize Khmer craftsmanship (silk, stone and wood carving, lacquerware, ceramics, metalwork, silk painting, jewelry) while providing young rural people with job opportunities near their village. It built 48 workshops and has become the largest employer of Siem Reap province. The company guarantees fair salaries and numerous social advantages to its 1100 employees.

Samatoa specializes in producing 100% fair trade natural silk and making clothes and fashion accessories.

Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) - Logo

Kampot Pepper and Palm Sugar Kampong Speu are the first Cambodian products to receive Protected Geographical Indication, called PGI. The Minister of Commerce of Cambodia has signed the decree in April 2, 2010 granting the status to the Kampot Pepper and Palm Sugar Kampong Speu.

“A PGI refers to agricultural products and foodstuffs whose characteristics are closely linked to a geographical area in which takes place at least their production, processing or preparation.”

The PGI, recognized by the World Trade Organization concept, are managed by inter-professional associations, Kampot Pepper Promotion Association (KPPA) and Kampong Speu Promotion Association (KSPA) gathering the producers of Kampot Pepper and Palm Sugar Kampong Speu, refining companies, and direct marketers.

Starling Farm Kampot Pepper, Palm Sugar and KadodÉ Palm Sugar have this Protected Geographical Indication (PGI).

Kampot Pepper Promotion Association (KPPA) - Logo

Kampot Pepper Promotion Association (KPPA) brings together producers of Kampot Pepper, refining companies, and direct marketers.

Concretely, this means that the name “Kampot Pepper” can not be used without the prior consent of the association, which conducts inspections to verify the origin of the pepper and also the compliance with the specifications of the Kampot Pepper.

Starling Farm Kampot Pepper is member of the Kampot Pepper Promotion Association.

Organic Cambodia - Logo

Starling Farm is growing its pepper without using any pesticides or chemical fertilizers, working to the highest organic standards. And as such, Starling Farm Kampot Pepper is certified by the Cambodian Organic Agriculture Association (COrAA).

Ecocert_logo

The Ecocert logo guarantees a crop without chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Inspectors verify all stages of the chain to ensure product traceability to the consumer. Compliance of the various operators in the chain is controlled by the company EcoCert Sa.

Starling Farm Kampot Pepper is certified Ecocert.

Protected Geographical Indication - Euro - Logo

Three European Union schemes of geographical indications and traditional specialties, known as protected designation of origin (PDO), protected geographical indication (PGI), and traditional specialities guaranteed (TSG), promote and protect names of quality agricultural products and foodstuffs. This regulation (enforced within the EU and being gradually expanded internationally via bilateral agreements between the EU and non-EU countries) ensures that only products genuinely originating in that region are allowed to be identified as such in commerce.

Since 2016, Starling Farm Kampot pepper has joined this elite group of gourmet food items whose names are protected by the European Union, joining products such as Gruyere cheese from France and Parma ham from Italy.

Kampong Speu Palm Sugar - Logo

Kampong Speu Promotion Association (KSPA) brings together the key players in the development of a specification of Coconut Palm Sugar that allows compliance with specific environmental constraints, production hygiene and high quality standard.

Concretely, this means that the name “Kampong Speu Palm Sugar” can not be used without the prior consent of the association, which conducts inspections to verify the origin of the sugar and also the compliance with the specifications of the Kampong Speu Palm Sugar.

KadodÉ and Starling Farm Palm Sugar are member of the Kampong Speu Palm Sugar Association.
